Yoga Therapy

Yoga offers the potential for healing and transformation. Yoga integrates body and mind allowing for more energy, higher zest for life, better relationships and a change in one’s attitude. Yoga is an integrating body-mind system, which functions optimally only when there is a state of dynamic balance. It is the use of specific asanas and pranayamas which stimulate and maintain an optimum state of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Yoga Therapy aims at the holistic treatment of various kinds of psychological or somatic dysfunctions ranging from back problems to emotional distress. Every illness involves a certain level of energy imbalance and blockage.  By increasing the flow of prana, or vital force, yoga removes these blockages and imbalances, restoring health. Asanas are a combination of movements that massage and stretch the body and organs. Regular practise can be a powerful tool for emotional healing.

Regular practice, leads naturally to introspection which in turn leads to psychic transformation. The practice of relaxation along with the practice of asanas allows the troubled mind to calm down and decreases its activity, promoting stability. Regular practice helps to deal with depression, high blood pressure, asthma or stress. Attending an open class, is not as effective as a practice specifically targeted to address specific health concerns. In many cases, people with health problems are unable to do certain yoga poses and need a more modified, gentle yoga routine. In addition, different types of asanas and techniques have different effects.
